HOLIDAY COMPENSATION FOR TIME WORKED. 147. Employees required by their respective appointing officers to work on any of the above designated or observed holidays, excepting Fridays observed as holidays in lieu of holidays falling on Saturday, shall be paid extra compensation of one additional day's pay at time-and-one-half the usual rate of pay (i.e. 12 hours pay for 8 hours worked or a proportionate amount for less than 8 hours worked). Employees required by their respective appointing officers to work on any of the above designated specified or observed substitute holidays, excepting except Fridays observed as holidays in lieu of holidays falling on Saturday, shall be paid extra compensation of one (1) additional day's pay at time-and-time and one-half (1-1/2) the usual rate in the amount of pay twelve (i.e. 12 12) hours pay for 8 eight (8) hours worked or a proportionate amount for less than 8 eight (8) hours worked). However, provided, however, that at the employee's request and with the approval of the appointing officer, an employee officer s/he may be granted compensatory time off in lieu of paid overtime pursuant to overtime. 348. P-103 Per Diem Registered Nurses shall receive pay at time and one half for working on all legal holidays recognized by the provisions hereinCity. 148P-103 per diem registered nurses shall not earn entitlement for the legal holiday. 349. Ten (10) and twelve (12) hour shift employees shall receive full holiday compensation for the regularly scheduled shift worked on a holiday. 350. Executive, administrative and professional employees designated in the Annual Salary Ordinance with the "Z" symbol shall not receive extra compensation for holiday work but may be granted time off equivalent to the time worked at the rate of one-and-one and one-half times for work on the holiday. Management shall notify nurses of their need to request floating holidays and in lieu holidays on or before February 1. Nurses must request such holidays by March 1 of each fiscal year. Floating holidays and in lieu holidays will be assigned by the Department if not scheduled in accordance with these provisions. An employee may carry over no more than the number of floating holidays accrued in one year from fiscal year to the next fiscal year. The maximum floating holiday balance shall be no more than twice the number of floating holidays accrued in one year. Holidays for Employees on Work Schedules Other Than Monday Through Friday 352. Employees assigned to seven-seven (7) day operation departments or employees working a five-five (5) day work week other than Monday through Friday shall be allowed another day off if a holiday falls on one of their regularly scheduled days off. Employees whose holidays are changed because of shift rotations shall be allowed another day off if a legal holiday falls on one of their days off. Employees regularly scheduled required to work on a holiday which falls on a Saturday or Sunday shall observe the holiday on the day it occurs, or if required to work shall receive holiday compensation for work on that day.
