Common use of Illness/Accident Clause in Contracts

Illness/Accident. If an employee has a medical emergency that requires a long period of recuperation, the employee may request an unpaid leave of absence for up to one (1) school year. This request must be submitted in writing to the Assistant superintendent for Human Resources, accompanied by a physician’s statement. The employee is required to notify the Assistant Superintendent for Human Resources, in writing, prior to April 15, of his/her intentions for the upcoming school year and must submit a physician’s statement prior to returning to work verifying the employee is able to return to work and perform his/her duties.
