Individual Freedom. Teachers shall be entitled to full rights of citizenship, except as limited by law, religious or political activities of any teacher or the lack thereof shall not be grounds for any discipline or discrimination with respect to the professional employment of such teacher.
Individual Freedom. The private and personal life of a teacher is not the appropriate concern of the Board of Education or Administration, except as it may interfere with the teacher’s duties.
Individual Freedom. The parties seek to educate young people in the democratic tradition, to ▇▇▇▇▇▇ a recognition of individual freedom and social responsibility, to inspire meaningful awareness of and respect for the Constitution and the Bill of Rights, and to instill appreciation of the values of individual personality. It is recognized that these democratic values can best be transmitted in an atmosphere which is free from censorship and artificial restraints upon free inquiry and learning, and in which academic freedom for the teacher and student is encouraged.
Individual Freedom. Except as it may interfere with the teacher’s responsibilities to and relationships with students and/or the school system, and/or impair his/her ability to fulfill his/her teaching duties, the District and the Association agree that the private and personal life of the teacher is not within the appropriate concern or attention of the District or the Administrative Staff.
Individual Freedom a. The private and personal life of a bargaining unit member is not within the appropriate concern or attention of the Board. b. Teachers exercising professional judgment in the classroom situation shall always be entitled to the full rights of a professional teacher of New York State. The bargaining unit member's religious or political activities shall not interfere with his function as a teacher. c. Bargaining unit members will refrain from using the school or their position at the school to promote personal views.
Individual Freedom. The private, personal life of a unit member is not within the appropriate concern of attention of the BOCES or Administration, except where it interferes with the unit member's responsibilities.
Individual Freedom. Freedom of individual conscience, association and expression will be encouraged and fairness in procedures will be observed both to safeguard the legitimate interest of the school and to exhibit by appropriate examples, the basic objectives of a democratic society.

  • Academic Freedom Academic freedom shall be guaranteed to all employees, and no special limitation shall be placed upon study, investigation, presentation and interpretation of facts and ideas concerning man, human society, the physical and biological world, and other branches of learning subject to accepted standards of professional responsibility, community standards, and District-approved curriculum. These responsibilities include a commitment to democratic tradition, a concern for the welfare, growth and development of children, and an insistence upon objective scholarship. Employees who create work on their own time, own the right to that work.

  • Personal Freedom 20.1 The personal life of an Employee is not an appropriate concern for the attention of the Board except as it may directly inhibit the Employee from performing properly his/her assigned functions during the workday.

  • Individual Grievance Subject to clause 19.5 and as provided in section 208 of the PSLRA, an employee is entitled to present a grievance in the manner prescribed in clause 19.10 if the employee feels aggrieved (a) by the interpretation or application in respect of the employee, of (i) a provision of a statute or regulation, or a by-law, direction or other instrument made or issued by the Council, dealing with terms and conditions of employment; or (ii) a provision of a collective agreement or an arbitral award; or (b) as a result of any other occurrence or matter affecting the employee’s terms and conditions of employment.

  • PERSONAL AND ACADEMIC FREEDOM A. The personal life of a teacher shall be the concern of and warrant the review and appropriate action of the Board only: 1. As it may prevent the teacher from performing his/her assigned functions during school duty hours; 2. As it may be in violation of local, state, national, or common law. B. Each teacher will be entitled to full rights of citizenship, and no religious or political activities of any such teacher or the lack thereof will be grounds for any discipline or discrimination with respect to the professional employment of such person provided they do not affect his/her classroom performance. C. The Board and the Association agree that academic freedom is essential to the fulfillment of the purposes of the ▇▇▇▇▇▇ County School System, and they acknowledge the fundamental need to protect teachers from any censorship or restraint which might interfere with their obligation to pursue the truth in the performance of their teaching functions. They agree that subject to curriculum guidelines and appropriate supervision by the teacher’s evaluator, the responsibility for teaching all appropriate material rests with the teacher. D. No student’s grade shall be changed without a conference between the student’s teacher and the administrator. After the conference, the teacher will be notified, in writing, of the administrator’s decision. In the event the student’s teacher is not available for a conference, the administrator will notify the teacher in writing of any changes in a grade.

  • Individual Rights Nothing contained herein shall be construed as limiting the right of any employee having a complaint to discuss the matter through administrative channels and to have the problem adjusted without the intervention of the Association, as long as the Association is notified in writing of the disposition of the matter and such disposition is not inconsistent with the terms of this Agreement.
