Introduction and Discontinuation of Extended Tours. (a) Extended tours shall be introduced into any unit when: i) eighty percent (80%) of the employees in the unit so indicate by secret ballot; and ii) the Hospital agrees to implement the extended tours; such agreement shall not be withheld in an unreasonable or arbitrary manner. (b) Extended tours may be discontinued in any unit when: i) fifty percent (50%) of the employees in the unit so indicate by secret ballot; or ii) the Hospital because of (a) adverse effects on patient care, (b) inability to provide a workable staffing schedule, (c) where the Hospital wishes to do so for other reasons which are neither unreasonable nor arbitrary, states its intention to discontinue the compressed work week in the schedule. (c) When written notice of discontinuation is given by either party in accordance with paragraph (b) above, then: i) the parties shall meet within two (2) weeks of the giving of notice to review the request for discontinuation; and ii) where it is determined that the extended tours will be discontinued, affected employees shall be given sixty (60) days' notice before the schedules are so amended. (d) There will be an ongoing evaluation of the extended tour in each unit. (e) It is understood that the implementation of extended tours in any one unit will be on a trial period for six (6) months. At the completion of the trial period a second vote will be taken in accordance with G.1 (a).

(b) Following the trial period, extended tours will be continued on any unit when:
i) eighty percent (80%) of the employees nurses in the unit so indicate by secret ballot; and
ii) the Hospital agrees to implement the extended tours; compressed work week, such agreement shall not be withheld in an unreasonable or arbitrary manner.
(bc) Extended tours A compressed work week may be discontinued in any unit when:
i) fifty sixty-five percent (5065%) of the employees nurses in the unit so indicate by secret ballot; or
ii) the Hospital because of:
(aA) adverse effects on patient care,
(bB) inability to provide a workable staffing schedule,
(cC) where the Hospital wishes to do so for other reasons which are neither unreasonable nor arbitrary, states its intention to discontinue the compressed work week in the schedule.
(cd) When written notice of discontinuation is given by either party in accordance with paragraph (b2) above, then:
i) the parties shall meet within two fourteen (214) weeks calendar days of the giving of notice to review the request for discontinuation; and
ii) where it is determined that the extended tours compressed work week will be discontinued, affected employees nurses shall be given sixty (60) days' days notice before the schedules are so amended.
(d) There will be an ongoing evaluation of the extended tour in each unit.
(e) It is understood that the implementation of extended tours in any one unit will be on a trial period for six (6) months. At the completion of the trial period a second vote will be taken in accordance with G.1 (a).
