Introduction and Discontinuation of Extended Tours. The introduction or discontinuance of extended tours shall be discussed with the nursing staff on the affected unit(s) and shall be determined by a secret ballot vote conducted jointly by the Hospital and the Union prior to implementation, after a six month trial period and not more frequently than every three years thereafter, as follows: To implement extended tour - requires 75% of the Registered Nurses affected that vote to commit themselves to work the extended tour; To discontinue extended tour - requires 50% + 1 vote of the Registered Nurses that vote actually working extended tours. The Hospital will provide the Union with ninety (90) days written notice of discontinuation of extended tour rotations. The parties will meet to discuss the discontinuation within two (2) weeks of receipt of a notice to discontinue. It is understood and agreed that management has the right to cancel an extended tour schedule if, in its opinion, it is not seen to be efficient or effective and the Hospital will discuss with the Union in advance any such cancellations. It is understood and agreed that the vote referred to herein above refers to a combined vote of the full-time and regular part-time registered nurses.
