Common use of Joint Occupational Health and Safety Committee Clause in Contracts

Joint Occupational Health and Safety Committee. (a) The Employer and the Union agree that they mutually desire to maintain standards of health and safety in the facility, in order to prevent accidents, injury and illness. The Employer shall take every precaution reasonable in the circumstances for the protection of a worker. (b) Recognizing its responsibilities under the applicable legislation, the facility agrees to accept as a member of its Joint Occupational Health and Safety Committee, at least one (1) representative selected or appointed by the Union from amongst bargaining unit employees. At least one of the employees representing workers under the Occupational Health and Safety Act, on the Committee shall be trained to be a certified worker as defined under the Act. Where the retiring certified worker is form outside of the Ontario Nurses Association bargaining unit, the bargaining unit will be offered the opportunity to designate one of its members to become the next certified worker. (c) Such Committee shall identify potential dangers and hazards, institute means of improving health and safety and Health programmes and recommend actions to be taken to improve conditions relating to Occupational Health and Safety. (d) The facility agrees to cooperate in providing necessary information to enable the Committee to fulfil its functions. In addition, the facility will provide the Committee with access to all accident reports, health and safety records and any other pertinent information in its possession. (e) Meetings shall be held every quarter or more frequently at the call of the chair, if required. The Committee shall maintain minutes of all meetings and make the same available for review. (f) Any representative appointed or selected in accordance with (b) hereof, shall serve for a term of at least one (1) calendar year from the date of appointment. Joint Occupational Health and Safety Committee. (a) The parties agree to abide by the Occupational Health and Safety Act and its regulations. The Employer and the Union agree that they mutually desire to maintain standards of safety and health and safety in the facility, home in order to prevent accidents, injury and illness. b) A joint Health and Safety Committee shall be constituted with representation of at least half by employees from the various bargaining units and of employees who are not represented by unions and who do not exercise managerial functions, which shall identify potential dangers, recommend means of improving the health and safety programs and obtain information from the Employer or other persons respecting the identification of hazards and standards elsewhere. One member of this bargaining unit shall be designated by the Union to sit on the Committee. The Committee shall normally meet at least once every two (2) months. The Joint Health and Safety Committee and the representatives thereof shall have reasonable access to the annual summary of data from the WSIB relating to the number of work accident fatalities, the number of lost workday cases, the number of lost workdays, the number of non-fatal cases that required medical aid without lost workdays, the incidence of occupational injuries, and such other data, as the WSIB may decide to disclose. (d) There shall be equal representation of Union and Employer representatives on each of the Branch Occupational Health and Safety committees as well as the Central Joint Occupational Health and Safety committee. (e) The Branch and Central Joint Occupational Health and Safety Committees shall identify situations that may be a source of danger or hazard to employees and make recommendations for the improvement of the health and safety of employees. (f) Where the Employer, at least one (1) representative selected the employee and/or the appropriate government authority identify high risk situations where employees are exposed to infectious or appointed communicable diseases for which there are available protective equipment or medications, such equipment or medications directed by the Union from amongst bargaining unit Ministry of Health and/or the Ministry of Labour shall be provided at no cost to the employees. At least one . (g) As per subsection 25(2)(l) of the employees representing workers under the Occupational Health and Safety Act, on the Committee Employer shall be trained to be a certified worker as defined under the Act. Where the retiring certified worker is form outside of the Ontario Nurses Association bargaining unit, the bargaining unit will be offered the opportunity to designate one of its members to become the next certified worker. Joint Occupational Health and Safety Committee. (a) The Employer and the Union agree that they mutually desire to maintain standards of safety and health and safety in for the facility, in order to prevent prevention of accidents, injury and illness. . b) The Employer shall take every precaution reasonable in will accept one (1) employee appointed by the circumstances for the protection of a worker. Joint Occupational Health and Safety Committee.
