Common use of Leave of Absence for Veterans Clause in Contracts

Leave of Absence for Veterans. (a) Employees who are reinstated in accordance with the Universal Military Training Act, as amended, and other applicable laws and regulations, may be granted leaves of absence for a period not to exceed a period equal to their seniority in order to attend school fulltime under applicable Federal laws in effect on the date of this Agreement. Employees shall not accrue seniority or benefits during such leaves of absence. (b) Employees who are in some branch of the Armed Forces Reserve or the National Guard will be paid the difference between their reserve pay and their regular pay with the Township when they are on full-time active duty in the Reserve and National Guard, provided proof of service and pay is submitted. A maximum of two (2) weeks per year is the normal limit, except the Township may extend this limit in proper cases.
