Common use of Length of Continuous Service Clause in Contracts

Length of Continuous Service. a. After all new probationary employees, employees on temporary promotion, and employees subject to layoff under Section 1.A.2 of this Article have been removed from a classification within a layoff unit, the employee with the lowest number of service hours within the classification shall be subject to layoff first. When two (2) or more employees have the same number of service hours in the classification, the employee with the lowest number of total service hours shall be subject to layoff first. b. Employees transitioned to the Authority from another public fire service agency in Orange County, pursuant to a contractual agreement for the Authority to provide fire services previously provided by the other public fire service agency, may be provided service hours for their employment with the other public fire service agency, for layoff purposes, to the extent permitted by the Agreement set forth in Appendix B.
