Common use of Long-Term Substitute Teachers Clause in Contracts

Long-Term Substitute Teachers. The employment of substitute teachers who become members of the bargaining unit under the provisions of Article 2, Recognition, shall automatically terminate upon the return to duty of the teacher whom they were employed to replace, or at the end of the school year in which they were employed, whichever comes first. Such termination is automatic, without the need for any further notice or action by the Board. The provisions in Article 11 of this Agreement relating to evaluation and non-renewal do not apply to such substitute teachers. The provisions of Ohio Revised Code §§ 3319.11 and 3319.111 do not apply to such substitute teachers. Long-term substitute teachers can be offered an unlimited number of one-year contracts. The provisions of this Article 15 supersede those set forth in Ohio Revised Code § 3319.10 with respect to such long-term substitute teachers.
