Common use of Maintenance of Union Membership Clause in Contracts

Maintenance of Union Membership. (a) All employees in the bargaining unit who were members of the Union as of March 13, 1991, shall maintain membership of the Union and all new bargaining unit employees hired on or after that date shall, as a condition of employment, become members of the Union and maintain such membership. (b) The maintenance of membership will be subject to the applicable labour legislation. (c) The Employer shall provide the Union and the shop stewards, once a month, with a list containing the names of all employees who are demoted, laid off, resigned, suspended or terminated during the previous month.
