MATERNITY AND/OR ADOPTION LEAVE. a) Prior to the Date of Birth or Adoption An employee will be granted unpaid leave of absence for maternity or adoption reasons. Any absence granted under this policy will not exceed fifty two (52) continuous weeks except as provided under Article 16.04, or by government regulation or legislation. Adoptive Parents can take a leave of absence of up to thirty-seven (37) weeks. Thirty (30) days prior to commencement of the leave of absence, the employee will notify her Manager of the number of weeks of leave she will be taking.
