An employee who will be absent on the afternoon or night shift due to personal illness must notify the Employer at least four two (42) hours prior to the commencement of the shift. An employee who will be absent on the day shift due to personal illness must notify the Employer at least one and twoone-half (1½) hours prior to the commencement of the shift. Failure to give such notice may result in loss of sick leave benefits for that day of absence, it being understood that this rule will not be applied in extenuating circumstances.
