Office Space and Safe Conditions. 7 (a) In-so-far as possible, the University Administration shall provide each faculty 8 member with enclosed office space with a door lock, office equipment 9 commensurate with assigned duties and responsibilities, and ready access to a 10 telephone, a computer, a university email account, a listing on campus distribution 11 lists, and an internet connection.
Office Space and Safe Conditions. (a) To the extent possible, The University shall provide each faculty member with office space and office equipment commensurate with assigned responsibilities. Such equipment shall normally include a telephone, a computer, and an internet connection. (1) Each tenured or tenure-accruing full-time faculty member shall be provided with an enclosed individual office that has a door lock, except in a circumstance where to do so would not be reasonably possible. (2) Non-tenure-accruing faculty members and part-time faculty members in a department or equivalent unit may be provided office space on a shared basis if it is not possible to provide individual offices, or if such faculty volunteer to share office space. (3) Full-time faculty members who provide confidential counseling services with the title psychologists, psychiatrists, student counseling specialists or other mental health clinical faculty shall be provided with an enclosed individual lockable office, except in a circumstance where to do so would not be reasonably possible. (b) Each faculty member shall, consistent with building security, have reasonable access to the faculty member’s office space and laboratories, studios, music rooms, and the like used in connection with assigned responsibilities. This provision may require that campus security provide access on an individual basis.

  • Unsafe Conditions In accordance with 29 CFR § 1977, occasions might arise when an employee is confronted with a choice between not performing assigned tasks or subjecting himself/herself to serious injury or death arising from a hazardous condition at the workplace. If the employee, with no reasonable alternative, refuses in good faith to expose himself/herself to the dangerous condition, he/she would be protected against subsequent discrimination. The condition causing the employee's apprehension of death or injury must be of such a nature that a reasonable person, under the circumstances then confronting the employee, would conclude that there is a real danger of death or serious injury and that there is insufficient time, due to the urgency of the situation, to eliminate the danger by resorting to regular statutory enforcement channels. In addition, in such circumstances, the employee, where possible, must also have sought from his Employer, and been unable to obtain, a correction of the dangerous condition.

  • Safe Conditions Whenever an employee reports a condition which the employee feels represents a violation of safety or health rules and regulations or which is an unreasonable hazard to persons or property, such conditions shall be promptly investigated. The appropriate administrator shall reply to the concern, in writing, if the employee's concern is communicated in writing.

  • Unsafe Work Conditions No Employee shall be disciplined for refusal to work on a job which in the opinion of: (a) A member of a safety committee; or (b) A person designated by a safety committee; or (c) A safety officer after an on-site inspection and following discussion with a representative of the Employer, does not meet the standards established pursuant to the Workers' Compensation Act.

  • Service Conditions Customer acknowledges that in the event of a service issue, Customer is responsible for on-site cooperative testing with LightEdge Technical Support to assist in the diagnosis of the trouble.   • GENERAL WORKING CONDITIONS Section 18-1. Employment begins and ends at each project site. Section 18-2. The selection of craft foremen and/or general foremen and the number of foremen required shall be entirely the responsibility of the Employer, it being understood that in the selection of such foremen and/or general foremen the Employer will give primary consideration to the qualified individuals available in the local area. After giving such consideration, the Employer may select such individuals from other areas. All foremen shall take orders from the designated Employer representatives. Craft foremen shall be designated working foremen at the request of the Employer. Section 18-3. There shall be no limit on production by employees nor restrictions on the full use of tools or equipment. Employees using tools shall perform any of the work of the trade and shall work under the direction of the craft foremen. There shall be no restrictions on efficient use of manpower other than as may be required by safety regulations. Section 18-4. Employees shall be at their place of work at the starting time and shall remain at their place of work performing their assigned functions under the supervision of the Employer until quitting time. The parties reaffirm their policy of a fair day’s work for a fair day’s wage. Section 18-5. All equipment assigned to a project shall be under the control of the Employer. The Employer shall have the right to determine how many pieces of equipment an individual employee shall operate. In an emergency, foremen shall operate any equipment assigned by the Employer, and there shall be no restriction on foremen in the use of the tools of his or her craft in such emergency. The foremen shall be from the craft normally operating the equipment. In accordance with currently recognized craft jurisdiction, the Employer shall determine the assignment of employees to start, stop, and maintain small portable construction equipment. Such work may be assigned to craft employees within a reasonable distance of their primary duties or an employee may be assigned full time to start, stop and maintain the Employer’s small, portable equipment on the job site. There shall be no over xxxxxxx of this type of equipment. The number of employees assigned to rigging and scaffolding operations shall be at the sole discretion of the Employer. The ratio of journeyperson to welders shall be determined solely by the Employer. Section 18-6. The Employer may utilize the most efficient methods or techniques of construction, tools or other labor saving devices to accomplish the work. Practices not a part of the terms and conditions of this Agreement, stand by crews and feather bedding practices will not be recognized. Section 18-7. It is recognized that specialized or unusual equipment may be installed and/ or serviced by individuals who have special training, skill, or qualifications and are not covered by this Agreement. Testing, inspection, or service performed on plant equipment under warranty may be performed by the vendor’s personnel. Section 18-8. Neither the Union nor its local unions shall coerce or in any way interfere with the Owner’s personnel, operation or facilities at the plant site. The Owner’s right to contract directly with other companies for work at the plant site shall not be limited, and the Union shall cooperate and not interfere with the Employer’s operations. Section 18-9. It is agreed that overtime is undesirable and not in the best interest of the industry or the employees; therefore, except in unusual circumstances, overtime will not be worked. Where unusual circumstances do exist, however, the Employer will have the right to assign specific employees and/or crews to perform such overtime work as is necessary to accomplish the job. Section 18-10. There will be no rest periods, organized coffee breaks or other non-working time established during working hours. Section 18-11. Individual seniority shall not be recognized or applied to employees working on projects under this Agreement. Section 18-12. The Employer shall establish such reasonable project rules as the Employer deems appropriate. These rules will be reviewed at the pre-job conference and posted at the project site by the Employer, and may be amended thereafter as necessary.

  • Safe Working Conditions The Employer undertakes to maintain office furniture, equipment, etc., in a practical and safe condition in order to avoid injury to employees or damage to their attire. Employees, for their part and in their own interest, are expected to advise the Employer of any such potentially injurious equipment.

  • Unsafe Working Conditions Employees shall be recognized by the Employer to have the competence to determine what constitutes unsafe working conditions within their discipline. No employee shall be disciplined for refusal to work in a situation which is deemed unsafe beyond the reasonable requirements of the employee's job.

  • General Conditions Costs Contractor is entitled to receive payment for the actual cost of the allowable General Conditions items incurred after receipt of a Notice to Proceed with Construction from Owner through Substantial Completion of the Project, plus 30 calendar days. Contractor is not entitled to reimbursement for General Conditions Costs incurred before receipt of the Notice to Proceed. General Conditions Costs incurred after Substantial Completion, plus 30 calendar days, must be approved in advance by Owner. Allowable General Conditions items are identified below and in Exhibit “D” attached to this Agreement. These items shall be included in the General Conditions Cost amount shown as a line item in the Guaranteed Maximum Price Proposal and as detailed on the Schedule of Values. Items not specifically included below or in Exhibit “D” will not be allowed as General Condition Costs.

  • MAINTENANCE AND REPAIR; RULES Tenant will, at its sole expense, keep and maintain the Premises and appurtenances in good and sanitary condition and repair during the term of this Agreement and any renewal thereof. Without limiting the generality of the foregoing, Tenant shall: (a) Not obstruct the driveways, sidewalks, courts, entry ways, stairs and/or halls, which shall be used for the purposes of ingress and egress only; (b) Keep all windows, glass, window coverings, doors, locks and hardware in good, clean order and repair; (c) Not obstruct or cover the windows or doors; (d) Not leave windows or doors in an open position during any inclement weather; (e) Not hang any laundry, clothing, sheets, etc. from any window, rail, porch or balcony nor air or dry any of same within any yard area or space; (f) Not cause or permit any locks or hooks to be placed upon any door or window without the prior written consent of Landlord; (g) Keep all air conditioning filters clean and free from dirt; (h) Keep all lavatories, sinks, toilets, and all other water and plumbing apparatus in good order and repair and shall use same only for the purposes for which they were constructed. Tenant shall not allow any sweepings, rubbish, sand, rags, ashes or other substances to be thrown or deposited therein. Any damage to any such apparatus and the cost of clearing stopped plumbing resulting from misuse shall be borne by Tenant; (i) And Tenant's family and guests shall at all times maintain order in the Premises and at all places on the Premises, and shall not make or permit any loud or improper noises, or otherwise disturb other residents; (j) Keep all radios, television sets, stereos, phonographs, etc., turned down to a level of sound that does not annoy or interfere with other residents; (k) Deposit all trash, garbage, rubbish or refuse in the locations provided therefor and shall not allow any trash, garbage, rubbish or refuse to be deposited or permitted to stand on the exterior of any building or within the common elements; (l) Abide by and be bound by any and all rules and regulations affecting the Premises or the common area appurtenant thereto which may be adopted or promulgated by the Condominium or Homeowners' Association having control over them.

  • Subsurface Conditions Unless the Contract Documents stipulate specific quantities and units of rock or unsuitable soils, the Contractor shall assume material below the surface of the Earth to be earth and other material that can be removed by power shovel or similar equipment. Should conditions encountered below the surface of the ground be at variance to the number of unit requirements as indicated by drawings or specifications, and absent an agreed-upon unit price established prior to the bid by Addendum, or after contract execution by Change Order, the Contract Sum and/or time shall be adjusted as provided in the Contract Documents for changes in the work.
