Older Employees Scheme. General The Older Employees Scheme is an arrangement for reducing the working hours per week for older employees. No new participants able to join The Older Employees Scheme has been discontinued with effect from January 1, 2014. While the Scheme will continue to apply for employees who already participated in the Older Employees Scheme before that date, no new participants will be able to join. Reduction in working hours The number of hours worked is reduced as follows: • 4 hours per week - for working hours of 36 hours or more; • 3 hours per week - for working hours of between 28 and 36 hours; • 2 hours per week - for working hours of between 20 hours and 28 hours; • 1 hour per week - for working hours between 8 hours and 20 hours. If the working hours were increased in the last five years prior to participation in the Older Employees Scheme, these hours will not be counted in the calculation of the reduction in working hours. Effect on other terms of employment The reduction has consequences for the build-up of entitlement to leave. The number of leave hours will be adjusted pro rata. In addition, half the reduction will be taken into account when applying the other terms of employment. However, the build-up of a pension entitlement and the Personal Budget will not be affected. An employee will be given paid leave to attend a course to prepare him for retirement. This leave will not exceed 5 days’ duration and may be taken within the two years preceding retirement.   • Public Employees Retirement System “PERS”) Members.   • DNR Employees An employee of the Department of Natural Resources may meet the basic eligibility requirement for participation in the Group Insurance Program based on a combination of seasonal and temporary project employment.   • Shift Employees Employees who work rotating shift patterns or those who work qualifying shifts shall be entitled, on completion of 12 months employment on shift work, to up to an additional 5 days annual leave, based on the number of qualifying shifts worked. The entitlement will be calculated on the annual leave anniversary date. Qualifying shifts are defined as a shift which involves at least 2 hours work performed outside the hours of 8.00am to 5.00pm, excluding overtime.   • Holiday Pay for Employees Laid Off An employee who is laid off at the close of business the day before a holiday who has worked not less than five (5) previous consecutive work days shall be paid for the holiday.

  • Exempt Employees (1) Except as may otherwise be provided by specific terms of this Agreement, C.G.S. Section 5-245(b)(1) shall be deemed to exempt from overtime payment all employees being paid above Salary Grade 24, and those unclassified positions which on June 30, 1977 were deemed exempt positions. Subject to the operating needs of the agency:

  • Hour Employees When a death occurs to a spouse or child of a full-time employee who works a seven and one-half (7.5) hour day, the employee will be granted a leave of absence and will be paid seven and one-half (7.5) hours at her/his regular rate of pay for up to five (5) consecutive scheduled working days in the six (6) calendar day period beginning with the date of death. Time paid for while on bereavement leave will count as time worked for the purpose of computing overtime. A full-time nurse who works a seven and one-half (7.5) hour day shall be granted three (3) consecutive working days off without loss of regular pay for scheduled hours, in conjunction with the day of the funeral for other members of her or his immediate family, namely, parents, brother, sister, son-in-law, daughter-in-law, mother-in-law, father-in-law, brother-in-law, sister-in-law, grandparent, grandparent of spouse or grandchild.

  • Cyclic Employment Leave Leave without pay will be granted to cyclic year employees during their off season.

  • Regular Employees A regular employee is an employee who has either served the required probationary term or has previously been employed in one of the other categories and has satisfactorily met the job requirements. The employee occupies a position that is considered part of the ongoing organization of OPG.

  • Overtime-Eligible Employees Employees who are covered by the overtime provisions of state and federal law.

  • Disabled Employees If an employee becomes disabled with the result that he is unable to carry out the regular functions of his position, the Hospital may establish a special classification and salary with the hope of providing an opportunity of continued employment.
