ONA Membership. 8 1. Because a nurse has a high degree of professional responsibility to the 9 patient, (s)he is encouraged to participate in the Association to define and 10 upgrade standards of nursing practice and education through participation 11 and membership in the nurse’s professional association. Membership in 12 the Oregon Nurses Association shall in no manner be construed as a 13 condition of employment. 15 2. The Service Center will help to distribute membership informational 16 material provided by the Association to newly employed nurses. Such 17 material will include Association’s form authorizing voluntary payroll 18 deduction of monthly dues, if such form expressly states that such 19 deduction is voluntary, and a copy of this Agreement. 21 3. During departmental nursing orientation of newly hired nurses the Service 22 Center will provide up to 30 minutes for a bargaining unit nurse designated 23 by the Association or Association representative to discuss Association 24 membership and contract administration matters. The Service Center will 25 notify the Association or its designee of the date and time of this 26 orientation, at least two (2) weeks in advance or as soon as is practicable.
