Common use of Parental Leave for Paternity or Adoption Clause in Contracts

Parental Leave for Paternity or Adoption. When the employee is not the birth parent, the employee may request parental leave in case of the birth or adoption of a child. An employee may request to use up to thirty (30) days of sick leave each year. Employees intending to use parental leave shall give the District reasonable advance notification when possible. Parental leave must be taken full-time and consecutively unless an alternative schedule is approved by the Superintendent or designee, or where intermittent or reduced leave is medically necessary. Parental leave shall run concurrently with any entitlement to Family and Medical Leave (FMLA).
