Part-time Vacation Entitlement. All regular part-time nurses shall be entitled to vacation pay based upon the applicable percentage provided in accordance with the following schedule, of their gross earnings in the preceding year. If a nurse works or receives paid leave for less than 1100 hours in the vacation year, the nurse will receive vacation pay based on a percentage of the nurse’s gross salary for work performed on the following basis: 6% - 3 week entitlement for part-time nurses who have completed less than 1500 hours of continuous service 8% - 4 week entitlement for part-time nurses who have completed 1500 hours or more of continuous service 10% - 5 week entitlement for part-time nurses who have completed 13, 000 hours or more of continuous service. 12% - 6 week entitlement for part-time nurses who have completed 33,000 hours or more of continuous service Casual part-time nurses will be paid vacation pay in accordance with the above entitlement on gross earnings or on gross salary for work performed, as applicable. NOTE: the adjustment in Article 18.05 occurs on 1 June, 1993. (a) Vacation lists shall be posted at each location on 15 December of each year. Each nurse shall indicate the nurse’s preference on or before 31st of January each year. The list shall be finalized, authorized and reposted by 1st of March of the same year. In the event of conflict, seniority shall govern with respect to the initial scheduling of vacation periods. (b) Lieu time should not be included in vacation requests. After vacation preferences have been met the employer will consider requests for time off in lieu. It is understood lieu time cannot be combined with vacation so that the time away from the work location exceeds six (6) weeks, however where special circumstances arise, application to use additional lieu time with vacation shall be submitted in writing to the Vice President of Clinical Services (CNE) with the rationale for extended leave. Such requests shall not be unreasonably denied.
