Common use of Payment for Holidays Clause in Contracts

Payment for Holidays. An employee who is required to work on any of the above named holidays will receive pay at the rate of time and one-half (1½) the employee's regular hourly rate for every hour worked on such day, in addition to public holiday pay (calculated as per Article 16.3) or the employee may be granted an alternate day off (lieu day), at a mutually agreeable time, to be taken within ninety (90) days after the holiday except at Christmas and New Year’s. Payment for such lieu day will be based upon the entitlement the employee otherwise would have been eligible to receive for the holiday at straight time hourly rates.
