Pledge Against Discrimination. SECTION 1. The provisions of this Agreement shall be applied to all employees in the bargaining unit ensuring that Employees of the County will be employed in the public service without discrimination on the basis of race, color, religion, national origin, sexual orientation, gender identity, disability, age, ancestry, marital status or political opinions or affiliation. Both parties equally share responsibility for the application of this Article of the Agreement. SECTION 2. The Employer agrees not to interfere with the right of all eligible employees to become members of the Union and there shall be no discrimination, interference, restraint or coercion by the Employer or its representatives against any legal employee activity or employees acting legally in an official capacity on behalf of the Union. SECTION 3. The Union agrees not to interfere with the rights of employees not to become members of the Union and there shall be no discrimination, interference, restraint or coercion by the Union or its representatives against any employee exercising the right to abstain from membership in the Union.
