POLICE DEPARTMENT EMERGENCY. Employees of the police department shall work additional hours when required at the discretion of the Chief of Police for the purpose of meeting an emergency situation that may arise.

Department of Health and Human Services An employee notified of a positive controlled substance or alcohol test result may request an independent test of their split sample at the employee’s expense. If the test result is negative, the Employer will reimburse the employee for the cost of the split sample test. An employee who has a positive alcohol test and/or a positive controlled substance test may be subject to disciplinary action, up to and including dismissal, based on the incident that prompted the testing, including a violation of the drug and alcohol free work place rules.
Fire Department Service Charge We will pay up to $500 for your liability assumed by contract or agreement for fire department charges incurred when the fire department is called to save or protect covered property from a Peril Insured Against. We do not cover fire department service charges if the property is located within the limits of the city, municipality or protection district furnishing the fire department response. This coverage is additional insurance. No deductible applies to this coverage.
Maintenance Department All employees in this section are subject to the provisions of the Collective Agreement except as specifically covered in this section.
Outpatient emergency and urgicenter services within the service area The emergency room copay applies to all outpatient emergency visits that do not result in hospital admission within twenty-four (24) hours. The urgicenter copay is the same as the primary care clinic office visit copay.

Grievance Commissioner System This is to confirm the discussion of the parties during collective bargaining that they are committed to encouraging early discussion and resolution of labour relations issues at the local level and seek to resolve grievances in a timely and cost efficient manner. Occupational Health & Safety Committee The parties agree to comply with the Occupational Health and Safety Act and any other federal, provincial or municipal health and safety legislation and regulations. Recognizing its responsibilities under the applicable legislation, the Employer agrees to accept as a member of its Occupational Health and Safety Committee, one representative selected or appointed by the Association from the bargaining unit. Such committee shall identify potential dangers and hazards, institute means of improving health and safety programs and recommend actions to be taken to improve conditions relating to occupational health and safety. Meetings shall be held every third month or more frequently if mutually agreed. The Committee shall maintain minutes of all meetings and make the same available for review.
