Common use of Political Activity Leave Clause in Contracts

Political Activity Leave. Any employee with at least one (1) year of seniority who is elected to a full-time public office, or who is a candidate for a full-time public office, may make written application for a leave of absence without pay, benefits, and seniority accumulation for the period of the first term of active service in such elective office, or during the time preceding elections in order to campaign for such office. An extension of such a leave of absence for service in elective public office may be granted by the University upon written application by the employee.
