Common use of Probationary Employee/New Hires Clause in Contracts

Probationary Employee/New Hires. Notwithstanding anything to the contrary elsewhere in this Agreement, newly hired probationary employees shall not be eligible to earn vacation time during their probationary period and may not use paid vacation until they have completed their probationary period with the Employer. However, upon successfully completing their probationary period, employees will have credited to their vacation accumulation the vacation time that they would have earned during their probationary period. Any necessary time off during the probationary period shall be approved by the Sheriff and shall be unpaid.
