Professional and Education Leaves. (a) Leave of absence with pay or without pay may be granted to employees to attend professional and educational meetings, courses, or other events which may be judged beneficial to the employee's professional development, especially as it relates to her responsibilities with the Employer. (b) Where an employee is required by the Employer to attend any training program, course or workshop, the Employer agrees to pay any applicable fee and the Employer agrees to compensate such employees for the time off from work as the result of attending the training program, course or workshop. (c) Leave of absence without pay may be granted to employees for up to one (1) academic year to attend further education which may be judged by the Employer to be beneficial to the employee's professional development, especially as it relates to her responsibilities with the Employer. (d) Professional leave without pay will be granted to full-time and regular part-time employees who are elected to or appointed to the College of Nurses or the Registered Nurses Association of Ontario to attend regularly scheduled meetings of the College of Nurses or the Registered Nurses Association of Ontario subject to the following limitations: i) No more than one (1) employee may be absent at one time; ii) Employees must provide at least thirty (30) calendar days notice in writing; iii) Provided that such leave may be arranged without undue inconvenience to the normal operations of the Nursing Home.
