Common use of Public Office Leave of Absence Clause in Contracts

Public Office Leave of Absence. 15.01 An employee with seniority, elected or appointed to a full time Federal, Provincial, or Local public office, may make written application for and be granted a leave of absence for the period of his/her first two (2) terms of active service in such public office. Thereafter, such leave will be at the sole discretion of FTG upon receipt of a written application from the employee. 15.02 Any employee granted such a leave will be reinstated on the basis of the seniority provisions of this agreement at the then current rate of pay for the position they are granted. Seniority will continue to accumulate during the period of such leave of absence. 15.03 The employee’s request for such leave of absence may also include a request to campaign for such office.

The amount of leave time permitted for campaigning purposes shall not exceed sixty (60) calendar days.
