Reasons for Use of Sick Leave. Sick leave may be granted to an employee upon approval of the Employer for the following reasons: A. Illness or injury of the employee or a member of his immediate family where the employee’s presence is required; B. Death of a member of his immediate family (sick leave usage limited to a maximum of five (5) working days) except as provided in Article 30, Funeral Leave; C. Medical, dental, optical examination or treatment of employee or a member of his immediate family which requires the presence of the employee, and which cannot be scheduled during non-working hours; D. If a member of the immediate family is afflicted with a contagious disease or requires the care and attendance of the employee or who, through exposure to a contagious disease, the presence of the employee at this job would jeopardize the health of others; and E. Pregnancy and/or childbirth and other conditions related thereto.
