Rejection During Probation of Laid Off Employee. An employee who has achieved permanent status in the class before layoff and who subsequently is appointed from the layoff list shall begin a new probation period if subsequently certified and appointed in a different department or classification than that from which the employee was laid off. If the employee is rejected during the probation period, the employee shall be automatically restored to the layoff list, unless discharged for cause, if the rejection occurs within the employee's period of layoff eligibility.
