Reporting and Approval Procedure. Except as provided in Article 15.4 in this Agreement, employees unable to report for duty shall notify the County's designated representative in accordance with procedures and timelines established at the department level. Employees who know in advance that they will be utilizing sick leave for a particular purpose (e.g., dental or medical appointments, etc.) shall give notice of the dates of such leave as far in advance of the leave as is practicable, but employees shall take into consideration department needs and recognize that under normal circumstances a twenty-four (24) hour notification is reasonable. Employees who fail to notify the department of an absence are subject to disciplinary action for absence without leave.
