Research/Scholarship/Creative Activity. The annual evaluation shall include consideration of the quality and quantity of the faculty member’s research/scholarship/creative activity which is a measure of the faculty member’s contributions to the discovery, integration, or application of new knowledge, and other forms of creative activity, which is appropriately related to the faculty member’s discipline. An evaluation of quality will include an evaluation both of the publication/creative contributions and of the medium in which the work is published/presented.

Research/Scholarship/Creative Activity. Each regular faculty Member shall be entitled and expected to devote a reasonable proportion of time to research, scholarly and/or creative activities. Research, scholarly and/or creative activities that may be carried out by Librarians, Archivists and Adjuncts also contribute to the learning environment of the University, and to the scholarly and creative endeavour of the University community, as well as to the professional development of the Member. In carrying out these activities, the Member is expected to adhere to institutional ethics policies, provided such policies are not in conflict with this Agreement, and to meet the recognized ethical standards of the national granting councils, including ethical guidelines for work with animal or human subjects. The Member is expected to deal fairly with colleagues and students, to carry out the research in the spirit of an honest search for knowledge, and to base findings upon a critical appraisal and interpretation according to scientific, scholarly creative principles appropriate to the particular discipline or area. It is also the responsibility of the faculty Member to make the results of such work accessible to the scholarly community and to the general public through the submission for publication, application to conference presentations, lectures, public performances, and/or other appropriate means. Members shall, in their published professional or scholarly work, indicate their affiliation with Queen’s University and properly attribute significant contributions of others.
