When the eight (8) hours rest period continues beyond the start of the employee's next scheduled shift, such employees will not be required to report until the end of the designated period of rest. Such employees will not suffer any loss of pay for any time lost between the normal shift starting time and the time they begin work. Except in cases of extreme emergency, a minimum of eight (8) hours rest will be given to employees who work more than sixteen (16) consecutive hours in any twenty-four (24) hour period.
