Common use of Retraining and Adjustment Period Clause in Contracts

Retraining and Adjustment Period. ‌ (a) Employees who assume a new position pursuant to this article will receive job training and will be allowed two months to familiarize themselves with their new duties. (b) If, after the period of familiarization, the employee is deemed unable to perform the duties of the position, the following will apply: (1) the employee may file a grievance; (2) the employee may be placed into a vacancy; (3) the employee may opt for severance pay as provided for in this agreement; (4) the employee would be on layoff and notice is deemed to have been given at the original notification-of-layoff time.
