Salary on Promotion. A. Except as modified by B., and C. below, a regular, limited-term or probationary employee who is promoted to a position in a class with a higher salary range shall receive the recruiting salary for the higher class or such higher amount as would be the closest to a two (2) step increase on the range over the salary received prior to the promotion not to exceed the top step of the range. A new merit increase eligibility date shall be established which shall be the first day of the pay period following completion of the first twenty- six (26) weeks of service in the new class, except that the employee will retain their former merit increase eligibility date if the promotion was the result of a Classification Maintenance Review as defined in Article XVIII, Section 2.B.
