When a Unit Member is promoted to a position at a higher salary range as the result of applying and being selected for a vacant classified position, the Unit Member shall be placed on the first step of the salary range for the position which will grant a raise in the Unit Member’s base salary of at least one full step, except the Unit Member shall not be placed on a higher step than presently held.
