On-Call Pay. 1. When a regular, limited-term or probationary employee is assigned on- call duty by the County, the employee shall, whenever practicable, be informed in writing at least five (5) days in advance of the dates and inclusive hours of such assignment; the employee shall be compensated at one-fourth (1/4) of his or her basic hourly rate for the entire period of such assignment.
2. On-call duty requires the employee so assigned to: (1) be reachable by telephone or other communications device; (2) be able to report to work in a reasonable time; and (3) to refrain from activities which might impair his or her ability to perform assigned duties.
3. Employees paid on a sixteen (16) hour shift basis are exempt from these provisions.
4. On-call pay shall not apply to extra help employees unless expressly directed in writing to be on-call.
On-Call Pay. For each assigned hour or part thereof, of authorized on-call duty, an employee shall be paid:
(a) on regularly scheduled days of work, the sum of three dollars and thirty cents ($3.30) per hour; and
(b) on days off and Named Holidays, the sum of four dollars and fifty cents ($4.50) per hour. A Named Holiday or non-work day shall run from zero zero zero one (0001) hours on the Named Holiday or non-work day to twenty-four hundred (2400) hours of the same day.
On-Call Pay. 21.1 Employees in departments requiring on-call status will receive two dollars ($2.00) per hour that they are scheduled to be on-call, but not at work.
21.2 Employees must be able to respond to being contacted during a scheduled on-call period and when called into work must report within one (1) hour, unless there has been a defined period of time predetermined by their department. If the employee lives more than fifty (50) miles away from the institution, it will be handled on a case by case basis.
21.3 When an employee is called at home to perform work or provide consultation in troubleshooting, under the direction of an authorized supervisor, and the employee is not required to return to the workplace, but instead can provide the assistance remotely, the employee shall be paid a minimum of .5 hours of pay regardless of how short the actual time worked. Any work time in excess of the initial .5 hours will be paid in .5 hour increments. Such hours shall be recognized as hours of work for purposes of the current policy of overtime calculation.
21.4 The on-call period will be defined as the hours that an employee will be required to be accessible to work or resolve issues from a remote location. Employees must be accessible by telephone, pager or other electronic device during the on-call period. The on-call period will be considered a regular shift. Once the employee reports to work, the employee will be paid their hourly rate of pay, applicable overtime and compensatory time will be applied if the total weekly number of hours worked exceeds forty (40) hours. Employees called in to work during a scheduled on-call period will be paid for at least four (4) hours of pay no matter how short a time actually worked.
21.5 If the employee is sick during what was assigned to be their on-call shift, they must call in sick as they would if they were working their regular shift. They will be required to use sick time and will be pointed as this is considered a regular shift. The employee will still be required to fulfill their obligation. NURSE ON-CALL
21.6 All full-time staff nurses will be required to take one twelve (12) hour shift of on-call every twenty eight
On-Call Pay. No employee shall be involuntarily assigned to on-call duty, except for employees in the Information Technology Band. Employees who are on-call during their non- working hours shall be paid in cash or compensatory time-off, at the discretion of the appointing authority, for time actually worked at the rate of one and one-half times their regular hourly pay for hours worked in excess of 35 hours in a work week. However, employees may request the option to receive cash or compensatory time off, in which case the appointing authority shall make every reasonable effort to accommodate the request.
On-Call Pay. A. Non–exempt employees required to remain On Call during non–working hours shall receive one (1) hour pay for the first 5–8 hours, within a single twenty–four (24) hour period, and one–half (1/2) hour pay for each additional 5–8 hours within the same twenty-four (24) hour period. An employee who is On Call for the entire weekend (i.e., from Friday after their normal shift ends until Monday beginning of their normal shift) shall receive eight (8) hours pay for the entire weekend.
B. Employees On Call shall be readily accessible by cell phone, pager, landline or other means of communication and will report to duty within a reasonable amount of time as determined in writing by their supervisor/manager, but in no case should an employee be provided with less than 20 minutes to report to work.
C. Employees who are On Call found not readily accessible, who refuse, or are unable to report to duty within the time frame determined by their manager, upon attempted notification by the District, shall not receive the On Call pay for the period they were supposed to be On Call and may be subject to progressive discipline.
D. When an employee responds by cell phone, landline or computer and does not return to a District facility, they shall be paid their applicable rate of pay to the nearest quarter hour (i.e., 5 minute phone call—employee can charge 15 minutes) while engaged in this activity.
On-Call Pay. (a) Where the Company requires an employee to be available on-call during off-duty hours, an employee shall be entitled to an on-call payment of one (1) hour’s pay at straight time for each eight (8) consecutive hours or portion thereof that he or she is on-call.
(b) An employee designated by letter or by list for standby duty shall be available during his or her period on-call at a known telephone number and be readily available to return for duty. In designating employees for standby, the Company will endeavour to provide for the equitable distribution of on-call duties.
(c) No on-call payment shall be granted if an employee is unable to report for duty when required.
(d) An employee on-call who is required to report for work and returns to the workplace shall be compensated, in addition to the on-call pay, in accordance with the provisions of clause 22.06 - Callouts and Overtime Between Regular Work Periods.
On-Call Pay. 12.6.2.1 The transportation department will pay a minimum of one (1) hour pay at the overtime rate when job requirements are such that an employee needs to be on call.
12.6.2.2 The facilities department rotates the classified employees to be on call for one (1) week periods. The compensation for being on call is three (3) hours of compensatory time taken on the Friday of starting the employee’s on call period. The compensatory time may be taken at other times as job demands require.
On-Call Pay. Any Battalion Chief or Assistant Chief who elects to remain on call when subpoenaed for a court appearance must notify the Department of where he/she can be reached and must be reachable by telephone. If a Battalion Chief or Assistant Chief remains on call and is not required to report to court, he/she shall receive three (3) hours of straight time compensation. Unless notified that his/her designated on call is terminated, on call hours shall be from 0800 to 1600 hours. Such time shall be considered uncontrolled standby time and therefore not hours worked. Payment for such time shall be included when calculating the regular rate of pay for overtime purposes.
On-Call Pay. When an employee is advised that he/she is "on call", that is, immediately available by direct telephone contact, he/she shall be paid straight time wages in accordance with the following schedule: Monday - Friday - 3 hours per day Saturdays and Sundays - 3 hours per day Holidays listed in Article 18 - 4 hours per day
On-Call Pay. 1. For a normal work day shift, pay shall be the dollar equivalent to one and a half (1-1/2) hours at current hourly rate per each day of on-call status.
2. For a normal weekend shift (Saturday and Sunday), pay shall be the dollar equivalent to two (2) hours at current hourly rate per each day of on-call status.
3. For a fixed holiday on which the Civic Center is closed, pay shall be the dollar equivalent to two and a half (2-1/2) hours at current hourly rate per each day of on-call status.
