Scheduling of Earned Time Off. (a) Surplus Time (1) Earned time off shall be averaged and taken off by mutual agreement and subject to operational requirements over a twelve (12) month period except that up to ten (10) days of accumulated surplus time may be taken off along with annual vacation upon written request as per this Agreement. (1) Where employees are not able to take their earned time off as scheduled due to operational requirements, then there shall be a cash adjustment at the end of the averaging periods indicated using "double-time" (2x) as the premium rate. (2) Where employees choose to carry earned time off forward for addition to vacation period, then the extra time worked in the period is to be considered as a "straight-time" time credit to be carried forward.
