Seniority During Disability Leave. Seniority (reference Article IX, Section 1), and continuous service for the purpose of benefit accrual rates shall continue for an employee on authorized disability leave for the first thirty (30) calendar days from the date the employee is separated from the payroll. Upon return from a leave of absence lasting longer than thirty (30) days, an employee's seniority date, benefit accrual rates, and benefit dates will be adjusted forward to take into account the length of the employee's absence, provided, however, that the employee shall be given credit on his/her seniority date and benefit eligibility dates for the first thirty (30) calendar days of his/her absence, as described above.
