Common use of Seniority if Promoted Outside Unit Clause in Contracts

Seniority if Promoted Outside Unit. An employee in a classification subject to the jurisdiction of the Union, who had been in the past or will in the future be promoted to outside the bargaining unit, and is thereafter transferred or demoted to a classification subject to the jurisdiction of the Union shall not accumulate seniority while working in a supervisory position beyond eighteen (18) months from date of promotion. The employee who is so transferred or demoted shall commence work in a job generally similar to the one he/she held at the time of his/her promotion, and he/she shall maintain the seniority rank he/she had at the time of his/her promotion plus up to eighteen
