Shift and Weekend Premium. (a) Effective July 1, 2021, an employee shall be paid a shift premium of one dollar and five cents ($1.05) per hour for each hour worked between the hours of 1500 1430 and 07000630. Effective July 1, 2022, an employee shall be paid a shift premium of one dollar and fifteen cents ($1.15) per hour for each hour worked between the hours of 1500 1430 and 07000630. (a) If an employee is required by the Employer to work a weekend in violation of the weekends off scheduling obligations of the Collective Agreement (if any), they will receive premium payment of time and one-half (1½) for all hours worked on that weekend. Time worked on that weekend will not be considered when determining future such premium obligations.
(b) Premium pay is payable whenever a weekend is worked in excess of the consecutive weekends permitted by the Collective Agreement unless the assignment of the weekend shift to the employee was initiated by that employee or unless another provision of the agreement makes it clear that premium pay is not due.
