An employee shall be paid a weekend premium of fifty-five cents (55¢) per hour for each hour worked between 2300 hours Friday and 2300 hours Sunday, or such other forty-eight (48) hour period as the local parties may agree upon or as defined in the Collective Agreement. Callers who are not covered by the Company’s sick leave policy referred to above and who actually work a minimum average of twenty-five (25) hours per week (including paid vacation) in each business quarter (i.e. each period of thirteen (13) consecutive calendar weeks) shall bank sick leave for their future use when they are absent from a scheduled shift as a result of a bona fide sickness or non-work related injury. The amount that each eligible employee banks for sick leave purposes shall be calculated in hours by dividing the employee’s hours actually worked (including paid vacation time) in the previous business quarter by sixty-five (65). Banked sick leave that is not used within one (1) year of being earned shall be lost.

For any time lost by reason of having to care, because of an urgent situation where no reasonable alternative arrangement is available, for an ill or injured dependant to a maximum of twenty-seven (27) hours per calendar year provided that such sick pay credits are available to him or her at the time. A member who makes use of this provision has an obligation to make other arrangements for the care of the dependant at the earliest reasonable opportunity.
