Common use of Shift Extension Clause in Contracts

Shift Extension. Shift extension is used for the purpose of providing a smooth transition of crews who are engaged in an emergency at shift change. All such overtime shall be paid out in cash payment. Overtime rates apply for time worked in excess of 30 minutes beyond the regular or designated duty shift. A minimum amount of one (1) hour will be credited regardless if the amount of time worked is less than one (1) hour but more than 30 minutes for shift change. Shift extension when responses are out of jurisdiction will be paid at the rate of double time. With the mutual agreement of the parties, shift extension may be used to provide coverage for reasons other than emergencies.
