Common use of Shift Selections Clause in Contracts

Shift Selections. Qualified employees will be allowed to exercise their shift preference within their respective classifications and department, based upon their department seniority, except in those instances where the approval of such preference will place an unreasonable hardship upon the Department. If two or more employees have equal seniority within the department, the employee with the greater bargaining unit seniority shall be accorded the position. Changes of shifts pursuant to this provision may be exercised once each calendar year. All shift changes within the department shall occur at one time, on a date to be selected by the Court Administrator in the month of January of each year.
