Common use of Shop Stewards Clause in Contracts

Shop Stewards. The Employer agrees to the operation of a Shop Xxxxxxx system which shall be governed by the following: (a) Shop Stewards may be appointed by the Union to a maximum of three (3) plus one (1) alternate Shop Xxxxxxx for the Bargaining Unit as a whole. (b) The Employer is to be kept advised of all Shop Xxxxxxx appointments. (c) One (1) Shop Xxxxxxx, or Union Committee member, shall be appointed by the Union as Chief Shop Xxxxxxx who may present or assist in the presentation of any grievance. (d) When the absence of more than one (1) Shop Xxxxxxx or Union Committee member shall interfere with the Employer's operation, then no more than one (1) Shop Xxxxxxx or Union Committee member shall be given leave of absence to transact Union business at any one time. (e) When a Shop Xxxxxxx or Union Committee member is the only employee on duty in a work area and where his/her absence would unduly interfere with the Employer's operation, then the Shop Xxxxxxx may be refused leave of absence to transact Union business.

(c3) One (1) Shop Xxxxxxx, or Union Committee member, shall be appointed by the Union as Chief Shop Xxxxxxx who may present or assist in the presentation of any grievance. (d4) When the absence of more than one (1) Shop Xxxxxxx or Union Committee member shall interfere with the Employer's operationproper operation of a department, then no more than one (1) Shop Xxxxxxx or Union Committee member from any one department shall be given leave of absence to transact Union business at any one time. (e5) When a Shop Xxxxxxx or Union Committee member is the only employee on duty in a work area department and where hisher/her his absence would unduly interfere with the Employer's operationproper operation of the department, then the such Shop Xxxxxxx or Union Committee member may be refused leave of absence to transact Union business. (6) In order to continue to promote harmonious relationships between the Employer and the union, the Employer shall provide the Union Chief Xxxxxxx with four (4) hours every month without loss of pay to perform union duties and functions.

(e) When a Shop Xxxxxxx or Union Committee member is the only employee on duty in a work area department and where his/her their absence would unduly interfere with the Employer's operationproper operation of the department, then the such Shop Xxxxxxx or Union Committee member may be refused leave of absence to transact Union business.
