Shop Stewards. (ai) The Union Company shall appoint from among the employees, and the Employer shall recognize, Shop Stewards in each of the Employer's operations. The duties of the Shop Xxxxxxx shall be recognize up to assist in the reporting and resolution of all grievances seven (7) employees as well shop stewards as disseminating bona fide information of designated by the Union in writing to the employeesCompany. (bii) The Employer agrees It is a xxxxxxx'x first responsibility to recognize perform the work required of him as an employee of the Company. It is recognized, however, that a duly appointed or elected Shop Xxxxxxx provided that xxxxxxx is the Union has representative in the workplace with whom the Company is required to deal as required by this Agreement. Accordingly, a xxxxxxx will, with the advance permission of his supervisor, be granted reasonable time during working hours without loss of pay to attend grievance meetings as required under Article 7 hereof or to attend discipline meetings as required under Article 1(f)(iii). A xxxxxxx'x attendance at such meetings shall be subject to operational requirements but a supervisor shall not unreasonably withhold his permission for such attendance. Upon return to work following such attendance a xxxxxxx shall report to his supervisor. (iii) A xxxxxxx may, where an employee so requests, attend any meeting between the employee and management which is for the purpose of issuing discipline, a suspension or discharge of the employee provided the xxxxxxx is readily available in the employee's work location (either Niagara Falls, Fort Erie or Port Colborne). The foregoing shall not apply where the suspension or discharge is not issued in person to the employee. (iv) During the first advised four (4) weeks of his employment the Employer Company shall permit a new employee to meet with a xxxxxxx for up to fifteen (15) minutes during working hours without loss of pay for either the employee or xxxxxxx, for the purpose of obtaining the necessary application for Union membership. The Union will notify the Company in writing of the name names of its members of the employee so appointedabove committees and of the stewards. The Union agrees to advise parties hereto recognize that a strong union with full and active participation on the Employer in writing part of any changes made by appointment or election from time to time. (c) The Shop Xxxxxxx'x first obligation is the fulfillment of their responsibilities as an employee. Shop Stewards.
