Common use of Show-Up Clause in Contracts

Show-Up. When an employee or prospective employee reports to work at the scheduled starting time and he is prepared to work, he shall be entitled to a minimum of two (2) hours pay at the applicable rate of pay and any travel time and transportation applicable whether he commences work or not. In such event, the employer may require the employee(s) to remain on the site and may also require him to perform any work that may be available. If an employee is asked to “stand-by” beyond the two hours show-up, the employee will be paid a minimum of four hours pay at the applicable rate of pay. If the employee is asked to “stand-by” in excess of four hours they will be paid the applicable hourly rate for each hour spent standing-by beyond four hours.
