Promotional Advancement. The Sheriff reserves and shall have the right to make promotions based primarily on' ability, seniority, qualifications, and performance of duty. Promotional vacancies shall normally be filled by the promotion of employees already in the depart- ment, except in cases where there is not qualified person available in the department, in which case such vacancies may be filled from outside the department. In making promotions, consideration shall be given to the applicant's' ability, seniority, qualifications, performance records, and the results of competitive examinations given.
Promotional Advancement. Unit Members who have achieved permanency with the 23 District and who then subsequently promote to a different job classification will be 24 placed on probation for ninety (90) days of paid service if the promotion is to a related 1 job classification (ex. Clerk Typist to Secretary). At the District’s option, the probationary 2 period may be extended for thirty (30) additional days of paid service, provided the 3 extension of the probationary period is not as a result of the evaluator’s failure to 4 evaluate in a timely manner.
Promotional Advancement. Applicants who are not successful due to not being qualified for temporary appointments under Clause 12.5 may request further training from the Employer in writing.
Promotional Advancement. 29 All nurses shall receive consideration for promotional advancement. 31 A.6 Covered by this Agreement. 32 Nurses covered by this Agreement shall only perform nursing functions.
Promotional Advancement. A. Promotional salary increases for members moving from one guide to another shall be a minimum of $3,500.00 or the next nearest higher step on the new guide, prorated on the basis of months to be worked, between the next higher category and the category of the position from which the promotion occurs.
B. Assignments of temporary nature to a position of higher responsibility that is vacant, under the title of “Acting”, shall receive a salary equal to one lateral move on the salary guide, as negotiated with the employee. (If the person in this temporary position does not obtain the formal Board appointment after six (6) months, that person automatically reverts to his prior position. This clause shall apply only to positions designated in the recognition clause of this contract.)

Clerk Typist to Secretary). At the District’s option, the probationary 10 period may be extended for thirty (30) additional workdays, provided the extension of 11 the probationary period is not as a result of the evaluator’s failure to evaluate in a timely 12 manner.
Promotional Advancement. Classified Bargaining Unit Members who have achieved permanency with the District and who then subsequently promote to a different job classification will be placed on probation for ninety (90) workdays if the promotion is to a related job classification (ex. Clerk Typist to Secretary). At the District’s option, the probationary period may be extended for thirty (30) additional workdays, provided the extension of the probationary period is not as a result of the evaluator’s failure to evaluate in a timely manner. Members who promote to an unrelated job classification will be placed on probation for ninety (90) workdays (ex. District Safety Officer to Technology) and may be subject to an additional probation period of ninety (90) workdays at the District’s option.
Promotional Advancement. Employees promoted to a higher paid job classification who are placed on Step 1 of the Salary Schedule, will be advanced one step on the Salary Schedule following 90 consecutive days of employment or July 1 whichever comes first.
Promotional Advancement. When a currently employed staff member is promoted to a higher classification, the employee shall receive a 6% increase in hourly rate from clerk Typist A to Clerk Typist B and/or an 8% increase in hourly rate per classification for other promotional advancements.
Promotional Advancement. Assignments of temporary nature to a position of higher responsibility that is vacant, under the title of “Acting” or for coverage due to leave, may receive a stipend, as negotiated with the employee. The stipend may be considered if the “Acting” or leave will exceed four (4) weeks. If the person in this temporary position does not obtain the formal Board appointment after six (6) months, that person automatically reverts to his prior position. This clause shall apply only to positions designated in the recognition clause of this contract.
