Common use of Sick Leave Accruals for Full-Time Employees Clause in Contracts

Sick Leave Accruals for Full-Time Employees. All full-time employees other than temporary and provisional shall accrue sick leave benefits each payroll period based upon the number of hours the employee is entitled. The full-time sick leave accrual rate is 3.704 hours per payroll period (up to ninety-six (96) hours annually). Employees shall accrue sick leave credits in accordance with the foregoing schedule from their initial date of employment and shall be entitled to the use of sick leave upon completion of three (3) months of continuous, full-time satisfactory employment. The use of accrued sick leave shall be subject to the provisions of Section 10.00, Sick Leave, of this Memorandum of Understanding. An absence approved as sick leave shall be deducted from an employee's leave balance at the end of the pay period in which the leave is taken. There shall be no limit upon the number of hours of unused sick leave which may be accumulated by an employee. Except as provided in Section 3.03, Return Following Layoff, upon separation of an employee, any sick leave balance for which payment has not been made shall be canceled, and shall not be restored if the employee is reinstated.
