Signal Requirements. The Signal conditions are defined in the Strategy Parameters section of the Properties window: Setting these parameters will control the conditions that must be satisfied in order to generate a Signal, which directly affects the frequency and quality of trades taken. This provides the flexibility needed in order to customize the algo for the instrument that you are trading. Here is a brief description of each setting: • Require EMA – Enable or disable the Signal EMA trade filter • EMA Period – Set the lookback period for the Signal EMA calculation • Entry Type – Select which type of Entry (Bar Close or Intrabar) to use when a signal is generated • Entry Offset (Ticks) – Specify the distance required (in ticks) after the breakout point before the trade can be entered • Allow Dojis – Allow or Disallow Dojis to be considered as part of the Signal generation logic The fact that all these settings can be optimized makes it possible to fine tune the algo and also facilitate adjustments to changing market conditions. Here are Usage Guidelines for each of these Strategy parameters: • If you want to filter trade signals based on the Signal EMA, turn this option on • Requiring the Signal EMA filter will typically reduce the number of signals • The Signal EMA is separate from the standard core engine moving average filters • Using both the Signal EMA and the core engine moving average filters together could be a way to apply both a micro trend and macro trend filter simultaneously • Applying the Signal EMA will usually reduce the number of signals generated • Set the number of bars lookback for defining the Signal EMA • Only applies if Require EMA is set to On Entry Type • There are 2 options for Entry Type: o BarClose – Entry order placed immediately after Bar 2 of the pattern closes o Intrabar – Entry order is placed if/when price reaches the Breakout Trigger Price ▪ Breakout Trigger Price is the high of Bar 2 plus the Entry Offset (Longs) or the low of Bar 2 minus the Entry Offset (Shorts) ▪ No trade will be placed if the Breakout Trigger Price is not reached before the close of the bar that immediately follows Bar 2 of the pattern • The Intrabar setting is a way to require more confirmation to enter a trade compared to the BarClose entry type because you are waiting for the market to provide more evidence of momentum in the direction of the trade setup • The BarClose entry type enters the trade earlier which allows you to capture more of the profit on a winning t...
