Special Day. In addition to the holidays specified in this Article, all full-time employees shall receive eight (8) hours of paid leave. Part-time employees will receive prorated share of eight (8) hours of paid leave. This paid leave shall be accrued by all employees employed as of the day before Thanksgiving or Christmas of each year. Employees who are employed as of the day before Thanksgiving may request the option of using this paid leave on the workday before or after Thanksgiving, Christmas, or New Year's Day. Employees who become employed after Thanksgiving but before Christmas may request the State option of using this paid leave on the workday before or after Christmas or the workday before or after New Year’s Day. If the employee chooses not to take one (1) of the aforementioned days, another day may be mutually agreed upon, provided such time is taken off by January 5th of the following year.
