Special Needs Program. 40.1 The District will annually set aside $8 per student FTE to be distributed based on the total number of FTE students enrolled at a building. The expenditure of these funds will be decided upon by the building staff at a particular site. The intent of these funds is to allow buildings additional options in providing services or materials for students with special needs. 40.2 When new teaching skills are required to provide existing or new special education services and/or programs, the District shall provide and/or facilitate training at no cost to the employee. A curriculum stipend will be provided for training that the District requests and which occurs outside of the work day. 40.3 Any regular employee with a special education student in his/her classroom shall be provided adapted educational equipment or adapted learning materials deemed necessary for that student by the District. 40.4 Classroom teachers and affected specialists shall receive notification of new students at least one day prior to the students’ placement, if at all possible.
