Split Tender Transactions. Some merchants do not allow split transactions, where you use the Card as partial payment for goods and services and pay the remaining amount with another form of legal tender. If you wish to conduct a split transaction and it is permitted by the merchant, you must tell the merchant to charge the amount you wish to access using your Card, subject to the amount of funds available through your Card and your daily spend limit. You must then arrange to pay the difference using another payment method. Some merchants may require payment for the remaining amount in cash. If you fail to inform the merchant that you would like to complete a split transaction prior to swiping the Card, the Card is likely to be declined if the amount of the transaction exceeds the amount of funds available through your Card or your daily spend limit.
Split Tender Transactions. If the Balance on the Card is not sufficient to cover the full point of sale transaction amount, you may ask the merchant if they will accept a split tender transaction. A split tender transaction allows you to use the remaining Balance on the Card to pay for part of the transaction amount and cover the difference with another form of payment (e.g. cash, cheque, credit or debit). If you fail to inform the merchant that you would like to complete a split tender transaction prior to using the Card, the Card may be declined. Merchants are not obliged to accept split tender transactions and some merchants may not accept split tender transactions.
Split Tender Transactions. For transactions involving Cash Value Benefits (CVBs), a vendor must accept alternative forms of payment if the value of the transaction exceeds the value of the CVB. Split Tender Transactions. If the Balance on your Card is insufficient to cover the full transaction amount, you may request the merchant to conduct a split tender transaction. This will allow you to pay the difference using another payment method, such as cheque, credit, debit or cash. If you fail to inform the merchant that you would like to complete a split tender transaction prior to swiping your Card, your Card will most likely be declined. Split Tender Transactions. If you do not have enough value loaded on your Card you can instruct the merchant to split the purchase, putting a part of the purchase on the Card and pay the remaining amount with another source of funds (a “Split Transaction”). Some merchants do not allow Cardholders to conduct a Split Transaction. If you are permitted by the merchant to conduct a Split Transaction, you will need to know the exact amount of your Authorizations and Holds: Any entity honoring your Card will be required to obtain approval or authorization for any transaction in accordance with the rules of Visa. With certain types of purchases (such as those made at restaurants, bars, beauty salons, hotels, rental car companies, or for fuel purchase made at the pump), your Card may be preauthorized for an amount greater than the transaction amount placing a HOLD on your available funds until the merchant sends the final payment amount of your purchase. Holds may be initiated for a variety of reasons including but not limited to, providing a security deposit, covering gratuities or incidentals, or ensuring your Card has sufficient funds when the transaction is completed. Once the final payment amount is received, the preauthorization amount on hold will be removed. During this time, you will not have access to the funds on hold. A 90- day hold may be placed on the value on the Card in the amount of the preauthorization request made by hotels and rental merchants. If the authorization request varies from the amount of the transaction the merchant subsequently submits to the Visa system, settlement of the transaction may not remove the hold, which may remain on the Card until the hold days have expired. If your Card is subject to a hold, the value on the Card that is subject to the hold will not be available for other purposes.
Split Tender Transactions. If you want to make a purchase for an amount greater than the remaining Balance, you must notify the merchant before completing the transaction and use another form of payment (e.g. cash, cheque, credit or debit) for the amount owing. If you fail to inform the merchant that you would like to complete a split tender transaction prior to using your Card, your Card may be declined. Merchants are not obliged to accept split tender transactions, and some merchants may not accept split tender transactions.
