Common use of Splitting of Vacation Periods Clause in Contracts

Splitting of Vacation Periods. Annual vacation for employees shall be granted in one (1) continuous period but in cases of more than ten (10) days vacation may, upon request from the employee, be divided as follows: (1) The Employer's approval shall not be unreasonably withheld, taking into consideration the employee’s seniority at the worksite and the operational requirements of the department; and (2) At least one (1) block of vacation shall be at least five (5) days in duration. Changes requested in selected vacation periods for compassionate reasons shall be given careful consideration. Such changes shall not affect the selected vacation periods of other employees. Vacation schedules, once approved by the Employer, shall not be changed other than in cases of emergency, except by mutual agreement between the employee and the Employer.
